SSS0.3 Deciphering time-dependent processes in soil and weathering profile evolution |
Convener: Claude Hillaire-Marcel | Co-Convener: François Chabaux |
Present concerns on the on-going evolution of soils, with respect to their fertility and erosion rate, require more attention from the geoscientific community. Here, we intend to look deeper into the superimposition of geochemical and mineralogical processes governing soil and weathering profile evolution that may vary from seasonal to millennial time paces. Emerging techniques provide now deeper insights into such processes. Papers dealing with i) the timing of processes governing soil and weathering profile evolution, ii) their geochemical and mineralogical expression, iii) the assessment of soil erosion rates under evolving climate and land-use and management conditions are thus warmly welcome.
