This is a half day training workshop. The main aim of the workshop is to transfer the experiences in the application of the thermodynamic modelling in Earth Sciences from the expert scientists to junior scientists.
The first part of the workshop (1.5 hours) will discuss how to use phase diagrams to understand metamorphic rocks and processes, along with some stuff on what the limitations of this approach and how to think about phase petrology problems. This part of the workshop will be presented by Prof. Richard White (Mainz University).
The second part (1.5 hours) of the workshop will deal with how to use the thermodynamic modelling to interpret the geophysical data and will be presented by Prof. Evangelos Moulas (ETH Zürich).
Other experts are invited to join the workshop to transfer their experiences to the juniors scientists.
Since this is a training workshop, please bring your laptop with you.
The workshop is linked to two sessions:
1- GMPV2.4 (Contributions to Metamorphic Geology) organized by Eugene Grosch, Philippe Goncalves, Pierre Lanari and Silvio Ferrero.
2- TS7.1/GD3.5 (Supercontinent assembly and disintegration) organized by Tamer Abu-Alam, Mahmoud Hassan, Joachim Jacobs, Toshiaki Tsunogae and Pritam Nasipuri.
