This session is open to contributions on all aspects of tropical meteorology such as: the intraseasonal variability and the MJO; Tropical cyclones; convectively coupled waves; diurnal variability.

We particularly solicit contributions on: (i) theoretical topics in tropical meteorology; (ii) forecast skill and; (iii) parameterization development as it relates to the tropics, in particular in global high-resolution general circulation models.

We also encourage contributions on tropical-extratropical interactions at synoptic and intraseasonal time-scales, in particular on: (i) extra-tropical (ET) transition of tropical cyclones and how it impacts higher latitudes; the role of tropical features in impacting extratropical conditions, for example as a source of water for extreme events (atmospheric rivers) and; (iii) the role of tropical-extratropical interactions in the MJO dynamics and in extra-tropical weather.
