The dedicated oral session features the lecture of the 2016 Beno Gutenberg Medalist, and the presentation of the award to the medalist.

The poster session contains contributions submitted to the 'Open Session on Seismology', including posters on recent earthquakes of local, regional, and global significance, as well as recent advances in characterization of Earth structure using a variety of methods.
