Soil erosion, climate, land use and society are, undoubtedly, inter-related. Understanding and managing their linkages and common feedbacks, within a changing environment, is one of the greatest challenges of our time. This session brings together interdisciplinary expertise, tools and approaches for the study of the erosion-land use management-climate change nexus, in the past, present and for predicting its development in future. It provides a unique platform for the discussion of the common issues, the datasets and methodologies and the perspectives of their development. Such discussions are needed to improve the efficacy of joined efforts and to provide sustainable and adaptable solutions to societal challenges related to soil erosion-land use and climate change.
The keynote speakers will be: Dr. Panos Panagos from JRC, ESDAC and the winner of the 2015 Soil System Sciences Division Outstanding Young Scientist Award Prof. Paulo Pereira from Mykolas Romeris University in Lithuania.
