Our session “Dynamics and chemistry of the upper troposphere and stratosphere: observations and models” is a long-running element of the AS programme. This year we will have a focus on the links between UTLS composition and stratospheric dynamics. Confronting observations and models in many different ways will foster our understanding of the interplay between stratospheric dynamics and the composition of the UTLS and its importance for seasonal and climatic developments.
We therefore particularly encourage joint observational and model based studies, combining recently collected in-situ and/or remote sensing observations with model simulations.
The solicited talk will be given by Scott Osprey on the special behaviour of the QBO during the last winter.
