SSP3.4 Provenance analysis and sediment fingerprinting |
Convener: Laura Stutenbecker | Co-Conveners: Gabriel Hunger , Pieter Vermeesch |
Sedimentary provenance analysis has become a powerful tool to understand source-to-sink relationships, to quantify sediment fluxes, and to reconstruct climatic, tectonic and paleo-geographical conditions all over the world and throughout Earth’s history. This session invites scientists working with fingerprinting tools such as petrography, mineralogy, granulometry, geochemistry and isotopic compositions to unravel Earth’s surface processes at various spatial and temporal scales. We especially encourage contributions presenting new methodologies and developments in the field, multi-approach analyses, as well as quantitative and modelling approaches.
