New styles of teaching, such as blended learning and flipping the class room, and state-of-the-art data collection, modelling and visualization tools find their way into higher education courses in Structural Geology and Tectonics. We invite researchers and lectures to present their original and innovative ideas, strategies and tools regarding teaching Structural Geology and Tectonics in the 21st century. But we also seek the discussion; how to judge to what extent new (IT-based) approaches are more effective than classical teaching methods, such as hands-on rock identification labs and geological fieldwork with hardcopy maps. This session is a PICO session, allowing interactive approaches in line with the goals of the session.
