Multi-Hydro: High-resolution environmental data and non-linear urban hydrology (co-organized)
Convener: Abdellah Ichiba  | Co-Convener: Ioulia Tchiguirinskaia
Mon, 24 Apr, 17:30–19:00

Interested in the topic? Then come to get acquainted with a newly developed free version of the Multi-Hydro model to use various high-resolution environmental data to their full extent, which makes Multi-Hydro a user-friendly tool to tackle urban hydrology as a non-linear nature/man-made system.
The course will start from a short recall on urgent needs to better use numerous, now available high-resolution environmental space-time data. (Multi-) fractal tools will be then used to highlight the scale dependency of the geophysical and urban hydrology input variables. This points out the need to have scalable model like Multi-Hydro, which is physically-based and fully distributed, and has a modular structure. You will then test how these developments both in real-time and replay modes. In real time management mode, several forecasting solutions will be presented, including multifractal ensemble forecasts. In the replay mode, Multi-Hydro can be used to evaluate the alternative scenarios, including for better planning of urban infrastructures, assuring a more inclusive coherence between urban and geophysical components, which increase resilience of our cities.
