This session is open to contributions on all aspects of tropical meteorology such as: Tropical cyclones; Intraseasonal variability, convectively coupled waves and the MJO; Monsoon systems and; Convective processes and weather (convective organization, diurnal variability, interaction with aerosols, etc.).
We particularly solicit contributions on: (i) Theoretical topics in tropical meteorology; (ii) Forecast skill; (iii) Parameterization development as it relates to the tropics (in particular in global high-resolution general circulation models) and; (iv) Results or plans related to recent or future field experiments (e.g. CINDY-DYNAMO, YMC, PISTON).
We also encourage contributions on tropical-extratropical interactions at synoptic and intraseasonal time-scales, in particular on: (i) Extra-Tropical transitions of tropical cyclones and how it impacts higher latitudes; (ii) The role of tropical features in impacting extratropical conditions (source of water for extreme events, atmospheric rivers, etc.) and; (iii) The role of tropical-extratropical interactions in the MJO dynamics and in extratropical weather.
