The session will collect the most recent studies on the effects of both climate and anthropogenic activities on the modification of the greenhouse gas balances of boreal landscapes, with particular attention to the least investigated Far East region. New research tools for observations and models will be discussed in relation to the specific needs and conditions of boreal regions. Multidisciplinary analysis of land use policies and their implication for mitigation and adaptation to climate change will also be considered in the light of the current climate negotiations.
