In recent years there has been a major transition in the way we conduct research in palaeobiology with tremendous advancement in the application of computer modelling approaches. This session will provide an overview of recent computational modelling advancements in palaeobiology, and will explore the impact these have had on our understanding of the fossil record. Computational approaches have infiltrated almost every area of palaeobiological research, so submissions will be taken from any subdiscipline that employs a computer modelling approach and will facilitate discussion on the challenges faced by different research areas in this field. Topics may include virtual palaeontology, morphological analysis, phylogenetic modelling, and statistical/ecological modelling.
