GMPV2.2/PS1.10 High-precision geochronology of geological and planetary processes (co-organized) |
Convener: Urs Schaltegger | Co-Conveners: James Connelly , Darren Mark , Jörn-Frederik Wotzlaw |
We need highly precise geochronological data to resolve the history of solar system formation and evolution, as well as the interaction of planetary-scale processes among the terrestrial geosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere and biosphere. This session invites contributions that use high-precision radio-isotopic age data to determine the timing of events throughout the solar system, infer process rates, establish cause-and-effect relationships and probe mechanistic behaviour (e.g., feedback systems) across 4.6 billion years of time.
