Paleolink is a new working group framed within the Phase 3 of the Pages 2k initiative (http://pastglobalchanges.org/ini/wg/2k-network/projects/paleolink). We aim to evaluate and develop new downscaling strategies that allow the linking of coarse Earth System Model simulations with proxy records.

This short inaugural meeting is totally open to anyone interested in this topic. We would like to gather ideas and expertise for forthcoming coordinated studies about past climate variability at regional scales. Among others, we would like to address the following question:
- what high-resolution simulations are available nowadays? Can we build an "official catalogue"?
- can we identify regions especially suitable for model-proxy comparisons in terms of proxy availability/sensitivity?
- how could we gather expertise from forward modelling?
- can/should we come up with a common protocol to facilitate data exchange?
