Simple bucket-type models continue to play an important role in catchment hydrology. During this short course we discuss these bucket-type models in general as well as current research challenges related to their applications. The focus will be on introducing two examples of such models in more detail, namely the HBV model and the GR4J model. Hands-on exercises will introduce software implementations for these two models.
