Advancing in water footprint/water productivity

The concepts of water footprint (WF) and water productivity (WP) are widely used in agricultural and industrial production. Water is a global resource, and wise management of water is not a national matter, it needs to be understood in a global context. In support to achieve SDGs, water use efficiency can be improved through smart consumption and trade of blue and green water resources in all water-related sectors to sustain and enhance food and energy supply and manufacturing.

In this session, we will focus on the application of WF and WP in different sectors of agriculture, industry, urban, etc. in different scales from local to national to global. We encourage researchers and decision-makers to contribute abstracts to share their progress in the assessment of WF/WP and reducing their uncertainties. We welcome innovative case studies in different geographic and climate settings and variety of products, businesses and sectors and the translation of these studies into policy changes. Also, we seek abstracts on the application of WF/WP to study scarcity, sustainability, security, and equity of limited water resources.
