NH9.18 | Resilience Building and Risk Reduction after Extreme Events
Resilience Building and Risk Reduction after Extreme Events
The session deals with strategies and approaches to reduce risks and to strengthen resilience after extreme events and disasters, such as extreme floods. These issues are highly relevant not only for developing countries, like Pakistan (extreme floods in 2022), but also for developed countries, like Germany or Belgium (floods in 2021). We want to discuss whether and how reconstruction processes allow for risk reduction and resilience building. Concrete strategies, measures and planning processes are going to be examined as well as the role of different institutions.
