Art or science? These are polar subjects, which force many to feel they must give up one to pursue the other. However, these should not be viewed as opposites but rather complementary. Science can incorporate vast artistic skills and processes; in addition, art can be used as a tool in scientific work and research.

In this short course I aim to share my journey of incorporating art to my ongoing scientific driven degree, breakdown how actively adding art to your research can broaden your scope helping you reach new audiences, and how incorporating science into art can break communication boundaries. With a focus on the creative process and the presentation of data and results to the public with practical examples from artists’ point of view.

At the end we will have a short application workshop with my personal tips on how to sketch, shade, and use the tools you have available to create scientific art. I will also share the tools and basic process needed for printmaking!

Note: please bring a pen and/or pencil for the application workshop.
