Advancing real-time resource exploration across scales
Convener: Margret Fuchs | Co-conveners: Yuleika Madriz, Moritz Kirsch, Sandra Lorenz, Samuel Thiele
The rapid pace of technological innovation and societal shifts towards more sustainable practices present substantial challenges in the realm of resource exploration, for both primary and secondary resources. Yet, these innovations are essential for the successful transition from linear to semi-circular economies. New tools for mineral exploration and raw material characterisation rely on the development of concepts that combine different stages, scales and disciplines in a flexible and smart manner.
We invite contributions that highlight technological advancements within the mineral exploration, mining and secondary raw materials sector to present innovative approaches and results.

These contributions could include:
(i) non-destructive data collection techniques employing core scanners, ground-based, airborne sensors or conveyor-belt sensor systems for efficient resource detection and assessment,
(ii) real-time solutions for data processing and the establishment of seamless connections between processing chains in recycling operations,
(iii) innovative approaches for integrating information from diverse sources or sensors.

While this session encompasses a wide range of applications, we stress the critical significance of effective integrative tools for combining information and establishing pathways for the automation of processes.
