Quaternary Polar Environments Inferred from Marine Sedimentary Archives
Co-organized by BG5
Convener: Kuang JinECSECS | Co-convener: Allyson C. Tessin

Marine sedimentary archives provide crucial information about past climate conditions and biogeochemical processes in the polar oceans. These records help constrain the range and underlying mechanisms of natural environmental variability and provide an essential long-term context for understanding ongoing changes at high latitudes. This session invites contributions focused on reconstructing Quaternary polar environments from marine sediment archives, as well as methodological developments that expand and refine the proxy toolbox available for studying these records. We welcome a broad range of approaches, including, but not limited to, sedimentology, micropaleontology, organic and inorganic geochemistry, isotope geochemistry, and sedimentary ancient DNA (sedaDNA).
