Worldwide, disturbances modify the interactions and feedbacks among hydrologic, geomorphic, biogeochemical, and ecological systems, thereby reshaping the hydrological functioning of landscapes. Wildfires, deforestation, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, and other disturbances alter water partitioning, flow paths, the transport of solutes and sediments. Although their immediate impacts may be spatially or temporally constrained, their hydrological consequences can persist and propagate across landscapes. This session explores how disturbances reshape hydrological processes across spatial and temporal scales, with particular interest in the mechanisms controlling the system response and recovery. We welcome observational, experimental, and modeling studies addressing individual, sequential, or interacting disturbances. We especially encourage contributions examining multiple or overlapping disturbances and their implications for predicting hydrological change and informing watershed and land management.
