Aeolian processes and landforms
Co-organized by AS4/BG1/PS1
Convener: Rosemary HuckECSECS | Co-conveners: Joanna Nield, Philippe Claudin, Joanna Rotnicka-Dłużewska

Aeolian processes operate across a myriad of spatial and temporal scales both on Earth and other planetary bodies. Interactions among geochemical, atmospheric, hydrologic, biological, cyrospheric, and soil processes shape aeolian dynamics and landforms, generating feedbacks that influence evolution across scales. Yet the controls governing aeolian transport, soil erosion, dust emission, and the resulting landforms are complex, interconnected, and remain incompletely understood. Bridging observations and understanding across spatial and temporal scales is therefore critical to advancing our understanding of aeolian systems and their evolution. This session brings together research traversing the spectrum of scale, from long term landscape evolution modelling to small-scale process studies. It will be of interest to researchers that study wind-driven processes and associated bedforms in a range of environments, including, coastal, arid and hyper arid regions, vegetated landscapes, icy beds, and planetary environments. Contributions employing novel instrumentation in field or laboratory studies, remote sensing, innovative numerical modelling, theoretical approaches, or combinations of these methods are encouraged.
