Social media provides geoscientists with opportunities to connect with diverse audiences, share discoveries, and explain how Earth's processes shape everyday life. However, turning complex research into content that is accessible, engaging, and scientifically robust while also appealing to algorithms remains a challenge. Short formats require concise messages, and the rapidly changing landscape of platforms, along with AI-generated content and misinformation, adds further complexity. The main challenge is capturing attention without losing scientific nuance and turning that attention into meaningful understanding. This session explores how individuals, groups, or institutions can effectively communicate geosciences on social media, covering topics such as climate change, geological hazards, and the history of our planet. We welcome contributions that present practical approaches and creative experiments, such as visual storytelling, humor, short videos, multilingual and community participation, and critical reflections and assessments on what works and what does not. Additionally, we aim to discuss strategies for reaching audiences beyond existing scientific networks, building trust, and evaluating impact beyond just the algorithms.
