Geoheritage: conservation, legislation, management, inventory, and outreach of significant geological assets.
Convener: Stefano Dominici | Co-conveners: Angela Ehling, Kerstin Lehnert, Ester Sztein

The session aims at collecting relevant experiences on geoheritage in its in situ and ex situ dimensions, that is, geological sites, heritage stones, and geological collections. Experiences should be about geological sites as places that have contributed significant values to society, scientific knowledge, or culture on a national or international level; heritage stones as geological materials that have been significant additions to architecture, engineering, sculpture and cultural heritage; geological collections from museums, universities, and geological survey repositories that have outstanding scientific, historical, and educational value. Aspects of interest include geoheritage conservation, legislation, management, digital inventory, and outreach, including the use of analogs for planetary and space geology.
The session is organised by the International Commission on Geoheritage established by the International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS), working in collaboration with the International Geoscience Program of UNESCO.
