Theory and Simulation of Solar System Plasmas
Convener: Shangbin Yang | Co-conveners: Victor Réville, Giulia Murtas, Maria Elena InnocentiECSECS

The "Theory and Simulation of Solar System Plasmas" session is a forum for presenting recent results related to theoretical and numerical investigation of heliospheric plasmas. Our regions of interest are the Sun and its corona, the solar wind and planetary magnetospheres. Processes of interest are magnetic reconnection, turbulence, shock waves, plasma instabilities, plasma heating and particle acceleration.

We welcome particularly studies integrating numerical modeling, theoretical investigations and in-situ measurements/ remote observations from current and future space missions (MMS, Parker Solar Probe, Solar Orbiter, Bepi Colombo, ASO-S, Aditya-L1, SMILE, HelioSwarm, SPO, Plasma Observatory...). This year we intend to focus in particular on demonstrating how spacecraft observations, numerical models and theory can be integrated for deeper understanding of the heliospheric environment. Example of this integration are data-driven simulations, validation of theory and simulations against observations, the several ways methods rooted in Machine Learning to the system can be applied to the heliospheric system, data assimilation.
