The Moon as a Heliophysics Laboratory: Space Weather, Plasma-Surface interactions, and Interdisciplinary Magnetospheric Physics
Convener: Yoshifumi Futaana | Co-conveners: Hanna Rothkaehl, Iannis Dandouras, Fabrice Cipriani

This session discusses plasma processes at and around the Moon, from kinetic scales such as plasma-surface interactions and mini-magnetospheres to the global-scale Earth-Moon magnetospheric system. We invite contributions on space plasma processes occurring at and around the Moon, including the lunar wake, mini-magnetospheres, plasma-surface interactions, surface charging, plasma-exosphere-dust-regolith coupling, energetic particle environment, and space weather at the Moon. Studies using the Moon as an observing platform for terrestrial magnetospheric and heliospheric processes, as well as for space weather monitoring, are equally welcome. Comparative studies of plasma processes at the Moon and at Earth, Mercury, Mars, Venus, asteroids, Phobos, Deimos, and outer planetary moons are also encouraged. We welcome contributions based on data analysis, theoretical studies, numerical simulations, new methodology, laboratory experiments, space instrumentation, future mission concepts, and combinations thereof.
