This session focuses on the application of spectroscopic remote sensing techniques for measuring atmospheric trace gases and related properties. We welcome studies on any method that exploits absorption along open atmospheric light paths using natural or artificial light sources. This encompasses the full range of DOAS applications (e.g. MAX-DOAS, zenith-sky, direct-sun, long-path DOAS), hyperspectral imaging techniques, direct-sun and open-path Fourier-transform spectroscopy (FTS), and related or emerging techniques.
Collectively, contributions to this session help to bridge the spatial and temporal scales between in-situ point measurements and satellite remote sensing, including:
– Greenhouse gas and air quality monitoring,
– Gas transport and quantification of emission fluxes,
– Retrieval of spatial distribution of trace gases and aerosols.
Moreover, the aim of this session is to gain insights into algorithm developments, instrument improvements, and practical field application, including instrument synergies, satellite validation, and cross-platform comparison.
