Biophysical parameters have been traditionally measured at the point or plot level on the ground. Remote sensing provides a way to map biophysical parameters at up to the global scale and over decades, with machine learning methods or radiative transfer modeling. This session calls for studies producing various biophysical parameters maps, such as plant traits, phenology, plant species, land cover types, and soil properties etc., using remote sensing observations and discussion on current shortcomings of the gridded datasets.
