This session highlights recent advances in Earth observation, from high-resolution imaging to AI-driven analytics and near-real-time monitoring, and examines how these capabilities can move beyond research into disaster risk governance. It explores pathways for translating EO-derived insights into early warning, risk-informed planning, policy decisions, and institutional practice, emphasizing collaboration among scientists, practitioners, and decision-makers to build resilient, evidence-based disaster management systems. It would also cover aviation resilience to highlight the impacts of natural hazards on airports, air transport infrastructure and operations, including early warning, risk-informed planning and operational resilience.
