The aim of the session “Permafrost-affected soils of high latitudes and high altitudes in a changing world” is to identify the state of knowledge of cold soils, with a focus both on present properties with their possible changes in future, and past soil formation processes. The combination of these focuses on soils from permafrost-affected regions may contribute to better understand how soils may react to future climate scenarios.
