Science Projects Networking event on Meteorology and Climatology in Education

This networking event on education at the EMS Annual Meeting in Dublin is intended to discuss and find new ways of bringing weather, climate and climate change into schools.

The event aims to bring together working researchers, project representatives from European and national science education projects and to develop activities such as science events, observational campaigns, demonstrations, models and other teaching materials, while starting new collaborations.

This side event will be the starting point for the development of a proposal for a 3-year project which will bring the expertise of working researchers and environmental policymakers into the classroom.

A draft skeleton paper that will be discussed and further developed at this meeting is available and will be distributed to all that are registered for this workshop (how to participate see below).

The questions to be discussed will include:
• How ambitious do we want to be, in terms of overall size, number of people hired, funding level?
• Where should we look for funding?
• What are our priorities for activities: big events? Sharing existing resources?
• Some ideas of specific activities to propose
• Who should be involved in the proposal, as a core team and as contributors
