Sample return and its laboratory analysis
Convener: R. Srama  | Co-Convener: Marty

Sample return missions are a unique approach to learn about chemical and physical properties of planetary bodies in our Solar System and their origin. Sample return of cometary and interplanetary dust grains was achieved by the Stardust mission with great success and its laboratory analysis is ongoing. Further missions for sample return are
currently under study like Marco Polo. The laboratory analysis of samples from comets, asteroids, moon surfaces or micrometeoroids allow interdisciplinary studies with the most advanced laboratory techniques. This session is open to results related to the investigation of returned space samples and respective analytical techniques. Contributions concerning mission planning or ground sample curation are welcome as well.
