This session is dedicated to discussion and recent research on granular systems applicable to the study of small bodies as gravitational aggregates, regolith surfaces, and sample return missions.
It embraces planetary science observation and modelling on small bodies, numerical methods (finite FEM or discrete element methods DEM, molecular or contact dynamics, hard or soft spheres, ...), laboratory experiments and scaling, segregation phenomena, rheology and involved forces.
Physical and dynamical features of binary/multiple asteroids and asteroid pairs, their formation and evolution, will also be addressed; as well as fission and spinning-up (YORP), and other mass shedding or (re)shaping mechanism.
