Subjects:

- Results from surface networks particularly related to the quality of observations including new methods for calibration, verification and checking of instruments.

- Results from field experiments including ground based and aircraft measurements

- On-going efforts to provide traceability of ground based and aircraft solar and terrestrial (longwave)

- New instrumentation and methods for radiation measurements and deriving radiation related properties

- Use of ground based measurements to improve the quality of radiation products derived from satellite data.

Note: This section will include all aspects of field measurements of atmospheric radiation including surface networks, aircraft campaigns, and the results of intensive observation periods focused on the measurements of the radiation field or on the components that directly affect the radiation field. The optical characteristics of aerosol and clouds, and the chemical composition of the atmosphere are also observed using radiation data and hence the instruments and methods for their derivation could be presented this Section. The presentation of modelling and re-analyses to determine the quality and uncertainty of atmospheric radiation data and their derived products is encouraged.
