Rainfall-Triggered Landslides and Coastal Landslides / Erosion
Conveners:
Jordi Corominas ,
Joan Manuel Vilaplana
This session will focus on:
- Description of single landslides and regional occurrence of landsliding events triggered by high intensity storms, including traditional and innovative techniques for landslide recognition, identification and mapping,
- Mechanisms of rainfall-induced shallow and deep-seated landslides, including the hydrological aspects connected to the initiation and development of slope failures,
- Monitoring and warning systems, and their application in research and operational environments,
- Definition of rainfall thresholds for the initiation of single or abundant landslides. Operational usage of the rainfall thresholds
- Influence of both climate and human changes on the future activity of landslides. Expected landslide responses based on the motion mechanism and/or the regional context
- Coastal landslides. Identification of the conditions that favours the occurrence of coastal instabilities and associated erosion. Influence of the sea storms.
We encourage the authors to submit abstract related to these topics.
