Sedimentary and early diagenetic processes in modern and ancient carbonate systems (co-sponsored by IAS)
Convener: Stephen Lokier  | Co-Convener: Farkhondeh Kiani
Poster Programme
 / Attendance Thu, 06 May, 17:30–19:00  / Hall Z

This session will bring together scientists working on the sedimentary processes associated with the development of modern and ancient carbonate platform systems.

We particularly invite contributions that give new insights into:
- The effects of external processes on carbonate depositional systems.
- The influence of internal feedback mechanisms on carbonate sedimentation.
- The contribution of early diagenetic processes to carbonate platform formation and development.
- Quantitative estimates of carbonate sediment production and accumulation rates.
- The application of modern analogues to the understanding of ancient carbonate depositional settings.
- Carbonate platform development in mixed carbonate-evaporite and carbonate-siliciclastic settings.
- Carbonate sedimentation is stressed environments.
