This session focuses on fundamental and applied aspects of turbulence in flows subject to de-stabilising accelerations in both compressible and incompressible fluids and plasmas. Specific topics include phenomena related with turbulence and shocks in Astrophysical environments (e.g. the heliospheric plasma). For example, new numerical and experimental techniques and observations. Direct numerical simulation, large-eddy simulation and turbulence models of compressible and hypersonic/hyperalfvenic flows. Mixing and Coherent structures in Astrophysical flows. Experimental, numerical and theoretical studies of shocks. Rayleigh-Taylor instability, Richtmyer-Meshkov instability. Relativistic, magneto-hydrodynamic and gravitational interactions. Laser induced flows. Plasma dynamics. Explosions.
