Large Infrastructures in the Geosciences
Co-Convener: Massimo Cocco
Oral Programme
 / Mon, 03 May, 13:30–15:00  / Room D

This session will focus on developing large infrastructure projects in terrestrial geosciences that may be the focus of activities in the period 2010 to 2020 and the future. Such projects can only be achieved by having a multinational approach to funding their construction and operation and include: marine infrastructure including ocean drilling vessels; Large terrestrial geophysical experiments; linked permanent arrays for geophysical monitoring; large mobile geophysical arrays; linked interoperable geoscientific data-bases. The Union session will discuss development plans for such infrastructure and bring these together in a single event which will serve as a showpiece for the future geoscience initiatives.
