This session is intended to provide an interdisciplinary forum to bring together researchers working in the areas of high-latitude tropospheric meteorology, oceanography, climate, and chemistry with an emphasis on the role of boundary layer processes that mediate exchanges between the Earth's surface (snow, ice, ocean and land) and the atmosphere. We invite contributions in the following areas:

(1) Results from polar field programs and observatories
(2) Surface processes including snow-ice-ocean-land/atmosphere chemical exchange
(3) The role of boundary layers in polar climate change and implications of climate change for surface exchange processes, especially in the context of reduced Arctic sea ice
(4) Advances in modeling and reanalysis, including model assessment of boundary layer processes
(5) Research that bridges atmospheric chemistry and boundary-layer meteorology in the polar regions
(6) Observation and modeling of surface energy budgets
(7) Coastal processes
(8) Application/demonstration of new technology.
(9) Application to other fields including, for example, astronomical siting, biological processes, etc.

In past years we have requested a schedule where poster sessions follow oral sessions to allow for oral poster introductions. For those who indicate a `no preference` request for the presentation style, we encourage a poster supplement to allow for further discussion.
We would like to encourage young scientist/student presentations by reserving at least one oral unit per session for such papers.

Public information: The Poster Summary and Discussion session immediately follows the oral presentation block and is an opportunity to hear short summaries of the posters with further discussion.
We also encourage attendance at the AS3.10 session on Tuesday which also has several papers relevant to halogens in high-latitude boundary layers.
