Satellite remote sensing of clouds and aerosols is of importance for creation of long-term uniform global records of climate - relevant parameters such as aerosol and cloud optical thickness, cloud top height, the size of particles, liquid water path and vertical particulate matter columns. There are a number unsolved problems in this particular area of research. This includes remote sensing of clouds and aerosols with accounts for 3-D effects, remote sensing of polluted and mixed clouds, etc. Also currently the errors of retrievals are quite large and must be reduced. This session is aimed at the discussion of current problems and modern trends in aerosol and cloud remote sensing using space - borne active and passive systems.
