The IR technologies have reached a significate level of maturity to be considered as powerful method of surface sensing. This session will consider the geophysical applications of IR technologies ranging from broadband to multi/hyperspectral, from proximal to remote sensing, considering the 2D (space) and the 3D (time) domain data mining.
In particular, the usefulness LWIR spectral range (8-12 micron) has been already experimented in many environmental applications. They include, soil physical and mineralogical characteristics; LST; target detection; archaeology, urban material detection and recognition; improvement in the Land Cover classification and atmosphere composition.
The session welcomes abstracts describing all past and recent activities in the framework of the full exploitation of the LWIR spectra range for the retrieving of geophysical parameters in the following application domains:
 In situ and remote IR instruments
 Soil properties characterization
 Urban areas and target, gas detection
 Archaeological prospection
 Surface infrastructure investigation
 Geophysical parameters retrieval.
