The Global Ecosystem Research Infrastructure (GERI) is composed of six large environmental research infrastructures: SAEON/South Africa, TERN/Australia, CERN/China, NEON/USA, ICOS/Europe, eLTER/Europe). With funding from a U.S. National Science Foundation AccelNet award, we have assembled a global network of early career researchers (ECRs) from GERI and other networks to pursue new research projects leveraging globally harmonized data. This Splinter Meeting will provide an opportunity for the GERI ECR Working Group to meet and discuss potential research projects. This will include a review of all the proposed research projects by GERI Global Research Survey respondents, as well as internally proposed projects. Our aim is to decide on our next global research project by the end of this Splinter Meeting. As part of this discussion, we will review project logistics, data harmonization needs, and plan how to most effectively use our time during an upcoming in-person Scholar Exchange in the United States. This Splinter Meeting will provide necessary in-person planning so that the GERI ECR Working Group can focus on data collection and analyses when they next meet at the 2025 Scholar Exchange.
