Soils are dynamic interfaces connecting the atmosphere, vegetation, surface water, and groundwater, and their physical and chemical properties strongly regulate water movement, contaminant transport, environmental processes, and ecosystem functioning. This session brings together experimental, modelling, remote sensing, and field-based approaches to investigate how soil-environment interactions across spatial and temporal scales affect ecosystems.
We welcome contributions addressing, but not limited to, soil hydraulic characterisation, soil structure and heterogeneity, soil amendment and treatment, and dynamic interactions between soil, water, and ecosystems. Studies integrating hydrological and environmental modelling, remote sensing, and GIS are particularly encouraged. The session aims to foster interdisciplinary understanding of how changes in soil properties and functioning influence water movement, environmental transport, and ecosystem processes.
