This session offers an opportunity to present studies or professional works regarding irrigated agriculture, either with disciplinary or multidisciplinary approaches, to promote resilience at different spatial scales, mainly when water and soil are limiting factors. It explores scientific, technological, and managerial breakthroughs aimed at transforming irrigated agriculture in a changing climate in the following areas:
• Traditional, novel, and transitional technologies for irrigation management, control and practical application.
• Digital irrigation: application of satellite UAV, and thermal imaging for ET estimation, crop stress detection, and yield forecasting.
• Precision Irrigation: application of sensor networks, artificial intelligence, big data in irrigation scheduling.
• Clime adaptation: strategies for mitigating heatwaves, prolonged droughts, and soil salinization in irrigated systems.
• Safety in non-conventional water resources (treated wastewater, desalinated water, and brackish resources) in agricultural systems.
• Improving the integration of climate change scenarios and weather forecasts into agro-hydrological models and decision support systems to improve decisions in irrigation management and safe surface water-groundwater interactions.
• Water- Food-Energy-Ecosystem (WEFE) Nexus for evaluation of: energy footprint, carbon trade-offs, and environmental flows associated with modern irrigation systems.
