Following the success of the inaugural event in Berlin, we are delighted to invite you to the second edition of the Europlanet SPace Innovation Night (E SPIN) in Helsinki. This year, the event will bring together colleagues from Europe, the US, and beyond, fostering connections across academia, industry, policy, and communication at every career stage, with a focus on innovation.

Event Highlights:
• Moderated Panel Discussion (19:30–21:00 EEST): A panel of experts will address the theme “The Use of Machine Learning in Planetary Sciences: Opportunities, Challenges, and Risks” in a lively debate with audience participation.
• Networking Reception (21:00–22:00 EEST): Continue the conversation over finger food and drinks, and create new connections across Europlanet and DPS communities.

We have secured the participation of Ms Victoria Da Poian (NASA Goddard, USA), Mr Olli Eloranta (Kuva Space, Finland), Dr Joern Helbert (ESA-ESTEC, The Netherlands), Dr Tomas Kohout (Aalto University, Finland), and Ms Nimisha Verma (DLR-Berlin, Germany, and EPEC Co-Chair) as panelists. Dr Stavro Ivanovski (INAF-Trieste, Italy, and Europlanet Vice-President) and Dr Luca Montabone (Paneureka/LMD, France, and Europlanet Executive Board Member) will moderate the discussion.

This second edition aims to firmly establish E SPIN as a highlight of the EPSC programme. The event is open to all EPSC–DPS registrants and free of charge, with the option to attend online.
We look forward to seeing you in Helsinki or online!

Please join us for the annual Women in Planetary Science (WiPS) lunch! This year, we are diving into the crucial topic of building more international collaborations and finding funding opportunities across different countries. Whether you're an early-career scientist or a seasoned professional, understanding the landscape of global partnerships is key to advancing planetary science.

We will have an engaging discussion featuring planetary scientists with diverse international experiences. Our speakers will share insights on topics such as navigating international funding landscapes and exploring scholarship/fellowship opportunities, strategies for organizing and managing international working groups, and tips for identifying and leveraging opportunities at other international conferences.

Come with your questions and an appetite for networking! Sandwiches will be provided for the first 100 registrants. We look forward to a stimulating and collaborative lunch!

Vanha Ylioppilastalo, or the Old Student House in English, is a cherished cultural landmark in Helsinki with a rich history spanning over 140 years. Originally envisioned during the reign of Alexander II of Russia, it was built to provide a dedicated space for students, inspired by ideals of education, collaboration, and social reform. Designed by architect Axel Hampus Dalström and inaugurated in 1870, Vanha quickly became a hub for academic, cultural, and social life.

Over the decades, it has hosted countless celebrations, meetings, and performances, and is adorned with artworks by notable Finnish artists like R.W. Ekman and Akseli Gallen-Kallela. Today, Vanha remains a vibrant venue, deeply woven into the fabric of Helsinki’s cultural and student life.

The social event venue is a 15 min walk away from the Finlandia Hall. If you want to use public transportation we recommend using the tram.
The nearest local transportation stops are Ylioppilastalo (tram), Lasipalatsi (tram), Helsinki Central Railway Station (tram and train) and Kamppi Centre (bus).
