Standardized, FAIR and CF-compliant publication of urban climate model data
Atmospheric Models are a relevant element of Climate Research. Access to this data is not only of interest to a wide scientific community but also to public services, companies, politicians and citizens. The state-of-the-art approach to make the data available is to publish them via a data repository that adheres to the FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) principles. A FAIR publication of research data implies that the data are described with rich metadata and that the data and metadata meet relevant discipline-specific standards. Data and metadata standardization for global and regional climate models (e.g. CMIP) is well established through the Climate and Forecast (CF) Metadata Conventions, but standards are lacking for e.g. obstacle resolving urban climate modelling.
This workshop will focus on publishing urban climate data following FAIR principles. The CF conventions will be introduced, including a suggestion on how to extend them to urban climate model data. Experience shows that preparing FAIR metadata is time-consuming; thus an open-source python tool is introduced that facilitates the preparation of standardized metadata and that also checks metadata agreement with the CF conventions. The usage of the tool will be shown in a live demo; in parallel, participants can test an online version of this tool.
The second half of the workshop will comprise an open discussion among all participants. The aim is to identify key variables that are specific to urban climate modelling and whose data publication would be an added value to various communities. The workshop closes with a polling to identify the variables that shall be incorporated into the CF conventions to foster the standardization of urban climate model data.

Nowadays satellite data provide records of a length of several decades. EUMETSAT together with it’s Satellite Application Facilities (SAFs) provide a wide range of data records on geophysical variables.
As an experiment EUMETSAT provides a data cube for Drought and Vegetation Monitoring (D&V Cube). The cube contains data records suitable for drought and vegetation monitoring, such as NDVI and other vegetation parameter, soil moisture in the root zone, land surface temperature, 2m air temperature, precipitation and solar radiation parameter in a common data model (same file format, same grid, same metadata). The data are provided by three of EUMETSAT’s SAFs (SAF on Support to Hydrology on Water Management (H SAF), Climate Monitoring (CM SAF) and Land Surface Applications (LSA SAF)), from the Global Precipitation Climatology Centre (GPCC), and from the ERA-5 re-analysis.
In this session we will provide an overview on the data records in the Drought & Vegetation Data Cube. You will learn how you can participate in the Exploration Phase of this cube, how to access the data in the cube, how to find support and how to provide your feedback.

Learn about Atmospheric data for wildfire monitoring from EUMETSAT and Copernicus products. Satellite data provides vital information on wildfire monitoring with a continuous improvements in observational spatial and temporal resolution, coverage and measured species as well as a constantly evolving added value products from the Copernicus Atmospheric Monitoring Services.
The session will see one science introduction and a data demonstration on a recent wildfire event with hands-on and supported by Earth Observation and Model experts to discover data, handle them and produce plots out of a sample of the data. You will make use of a series of freely available tools specifically developed for these applications, including Jupyter Notebook modules, to have an easy and intuitive way to make use of Python programming.
No experience is necessary as various exercises will be provided for a wide range of skill levels and applications.

This 60 min online voice training will provide you with some basic principles and techniques to use your voice in a proper way and to understand your voice as an instrument. This will help you to minimize voice problems.
You will learn exercises to breath more deeply by using the diaphragm breathing.
Besides you will explore the right pitch of your voice and as how to make your voice sound more melodic which will help you to eliminate a possibly monotonous sound.
In each part of the course you will get exercises and will be given a little time to try and train immediately.
